What is Chromesthetic Music? Before we get into any details, you might be interested to know that part of the design for Chromesthetic Music was inspired by the work of Carla Bley and Michael Mantler – specifically, their creation of the New Music Distribution Service which operated from 1972 – 1990.

While the model for the NMDS was a program of the Jazz Composer’s Orchestra Association (JCOA), it began by distributing records by any number of independent labels and artists. As such, this could be described or interpreted as an “open-invitation” to artists and labels for distribution of their respective recorded works. You can get more information about the NMDS New Music Distribution Service, on Wikipedia.

In a similar way, in the spirit of inclusiveness, Chromesthetic Music welcomes submissions of unpublished recorded works from independent artists for digital distribution.

Along with music distribution, partnered with our own recording facility, Studio 7305, we also offer contract services to unsigned artists in need of music production.

Consider this model as a “one-stop shop” for music creation, production, publishing and distribution.

“What’s that”, you say, “…this sounds like a record label.”

Well, the answer is yes, we are a label, focused on digital distribution only. We do not make or distribute physical product or merchandise. Our goal is to offer services which allow the artists to distribute and monetize their creative work in a number of ways.

In this current transition, we’re looking to build a team of creatives to help define the label, and assist with further development. We’re especially interested in the areas of music marketing, promotion, copyrights and performance rights, as well as web development and other IT components.

Samples from the current Chromesthetic catalog are available at BRIAN KING MUSIC.
